First Snow of the Year!

In my last post, I was bemoaning the crazy weather that we have been having.  Yes, the weather is still crazy, however, we dipped into a bit of normalcy today with a high of 48 degrees and .... SNOW!!!  My oldest set a record this morning for getting dressed so she could play before school.  My youngest got to play in the snow for the first time.
Big difference between here and Fort Worth... one little snow flake, and the news is all over it.  Road conditions are updated constantly.  Here in the sticks, you are kind of on your own.  I had so much fun driving on ice this morning, but we made it to school on time and in one piece.

Christmas Is Creeping Closer....

Christmas is fast approaching, and the weather has been crazy here in Texas.  Texas is known for weird weather, but in my 32 years here, I have yet to witness 80 degree days this close to Christmas.  We let our tomatoe and pepper plants go weeks ago with the frost thinking that fall was finally here and that was it.  Arrgh!

I made it through my first craft fair last weekend.  The turn out was not that great, but I live in a small town, and just being able to have a Christmas celebration with craft booths is saying something.  I was able to meet some fellow local crafters, which was nice.  I wish that I had taken pictures of these really neat tables that were made using recycled wood, and yard sticks -- awesome.  Hopefully the maker/seller will have a store on Etsy or website soon so I can share a link.  I also met Erica from Beehive Creations, who happens to make really cute bows.  So all in all, it was a fun Saturday.

Here are a few Etsy treasuries that I created recently.  The first is all about Ornaments, and the second, It's looking like a Madcap Christmas! features members from It's a Madcap Life.  Last but not least is Sweet Suds - soaps that look good enough to eat! :)

Halloween is Here!

The costumes are finished and hung with care.... lol.  Well,  Yogi Bear and BooBoo are ready to be turned loose upon the town.

Here is the breakdown for the costumes:

What was purchased:
                                   1 brown jogging suit
                                   1 pair of jogging pants
                                   1 white shirt
                                   1 package of brown dye
1 red checked fabric (because I just had to have that).
                                   1 cute bear hat.

Everything else, came from things that I either already had, or found.  My sewing machine behaved itself, so all in all, this was an enjoyable process.

I hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Headbands Are Up! Costume Madness...

I was finally able to list my latest batch of headbands Friday.  We did a "photo shoot" weekend before last, on the one day out of the month when it was cloudy and freezing.  Still it is hard to beat natural light.  Thank you to Mom for helping me get the right pictures, and Dad for keeping the girls entertained during that process.

Now, Halloween is fast approaching.  The girls are going to go as Yogi Bear and Boo Boo.  Since things are so crazy, I am going to cheat a little, okay, a lot by using sweat suits.  However, due to Feath's aversion to trying anything on, this might be the one thing that saves my sanity.  My mother in law has a perfect basket, and by some miracle, my Mom was able to find pants and Feath's shirt in brown.  No way no how for Kee's shirt, so yesterday, I drug out the 5 gal. buckets and brown dye.  I think that there might be something wrong with me, because I get so happy doing this.  I could not stop throwing things in.  I ended up with the shirt to match her pants, a 2 saved T-shirts that have been given new lives, and plenty of extra brown material to finish out the costumes.  Now if I can just put it all together.

Stay tuned for an update.
